Iran offers $30,000 reward for killing or capturing US soldiers

Iran, the Islamic Republic of, has announced a $30,000 ($5 billion tomans for women) reward for anyone who kills or captures a United States soldier. Major General Amir Hatami, the Iranian Army Commander-in-Chief, made the announcement on Sunday, stating that the reward was in response to numerous requests from individuals eager to financially support military efforts.

The motive behind the reward is to discourage American military personnel from invading Iran. The announcement comes amidst ongoing hostility between Tehran and Washington, following months of military confrontations that began with the United States and Israel's attacks against Iran on February 28. The situation escalated into a ceasefire in April after nearly 40 days of fighting, followed by peace talks which ultimately collapsed.

Despite the cessation of hostilities, intermittent firing has continued, particularly near southern Iran and the strategically significant Strait of Hormuz. The announcement also highlights Iran's potential retaliation against US President Donald Trump, as suggested by US security officials' elaborate deception during a NATO summit in Ankara, Turkey, to protect Trump from a possible Iranian attack.
