India calls in the ‘monkey wallahs’ to help badminton ace PV Sindhu chase another title

Indian badminton sensation P.V. Sindhu expressed her appreciation for the "monkey wallahs" hired to deter rhesus macaques from the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium during the upcoming World Championships. The event, returning to India after a 17-year hiatus, begins on Monday at the same venue where a monkey was spotted in the stands during the January India Open.

Sindhu, an Olympic silver and bronze medallist, praised the organizers' efforts, stating that everything was comfortable and well-prepared. The 2019 world champion, who arrived in top form following her victory at the Japan Open last month, expressed excitement about competing at her home ground. Sindhu, seeded ninth, is set to face Ireland's Sophia Noble in the first round, fueled by the motivation and hunger for the game that remains as strong as ever after over a decade of elite-level play.
