Four to be charged with murder of Batu Pahat businessman tomorrow

Batu Pahat police will charge four men tomorrow with the murder of a businessman, according to officials. The suspects, aged between 26 and 40, face Section 302 charges under the Penal Code. District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani revealed the decision to prosecute came after an investigation paper was sent to the Johor State Legal Adviser's Office for review.

The completed investigation was submitted to the prosecution earlier, and after their assessment, the prosecution issued directives against four suspects. Police initially arrested five individuals following the discovery of a businessman's body in Sungai Tanjung Sembrong, Parit Raja, on the outskirts of Batu Pahat. The victim, found bound and wrapped in netting, was allegedly strangled with a rope before his hands were taped and body wrapped.

Five stones were discovered near the body, believed to have been used to weigh it down. The victim's identity was confirmed by his next-of-kin after recognizing his clothing and personal belongings with the body. Two of the five suspects previously had criminal and drug-related records.
