Foster drove “with a bit of rage” in Fast Six en route to Markham IndyCar pole

Louis Foster, a 23-year-old British driver, turned pure frustration into racing fuel after a misstep in the Round of 12 of the Fast Six shootout. The error cost him the lead, but Foster channeled his anger into an unbeatable final run at the inaugural Ontario Honda Dealers Indy at Markham. Seated in the #45 Rahal Letterman Lanigan Racing (RLL) Honda, he produced a blistering 1:13.2383 lap, setting pole position with a margin of 0.3969 seconds over Arrow McLaren’s Christian Lundgaard.

This earned Foster his second IndyCar pole of the season, marking his first since Road America last year.

The defining moment came before the Fast Six shootout, when Foster's execution error almost derailed his qualifying effort. However, he turned the frustration into a positive, stating, "I drove Fast Six pretty pissed off because we made a massive mistake in Fast 12. I got through by a bee s tail, nothing. We should have cleared that easily.

I was pretty annoyed. I was driving with a bit of a rage." Foster's pace was no fluke, as he led RLL's performance throughout the weekend. Teammates Graham Rahal and Mick Schumacher qualified 10th and 11th.

Foster expressed confidence in his performance, noting that the track felt comfortable to him, and the car was running at its peak. He said, "I felt comfortable with the track. Car was on fire." With a strategic tire advantage over Lundgaard and several other rivals, Foster is poised to turn anger into victory, emphasizing the team's focus on optimizing their performance.
