Teenager Carys Edwards, 18, along with her mother Melanie Smith, 53, expressed their admiration for the singer, stating that her music was an inspiration to them. Tyler, whose real name was Gaynor Hopkins, was born and raised in a mining village northwest of Swansea before spending time in south Wales and Portugal later in her life.

Her husky voice and distinctive style made her an instantly recognizable figure of the 1980s power ballad era. Tributes poured in from musicians, film personalities, and global figures upon Tyler's July 8 death, attributed to an unknown illness she was being treated for.
