Ethereum devs to narrow 66 proposals tied to Hegotá upgrade

The Hegotá upgrade, aimed at enhancing native privacy for Ethereum applications, is currently under review by Ethereum developers. Out of 66 proposals, several are focused on adding more privacy capabilities to the protocol. FOCIL, the sole Ethereum Improvement Proposal (EIP) set to be included in the upgrade, is designed to allow a committee of validators to force pending transactions into blocks, thereby boosting the network's censorship resistance.

Other proposals such as Frame Transactions (EIP-8141), Keyed Nonces (EIP-8250), and Recent Roots for Frame Transactions (EIP-8272) are expected to provide protocol primitives for privacy applications. These enhancements would enable privacy apps to function without relying on intermediaries. The primary goal is to ship the Hegotá upgrade next year, with the next Ethereum core developer calls scheduled to occur on Monday at 2:00 pm UTC.

Proposals that do not make the cut for Hegotá may be reconsidered for a future upgrade. Meanwhile, Ethereum developers are also preparing to launch Glamsterdam, an upgrade aimed at improving scalability, hardening the layer-1, and making the network more user-friendly, with a mainnet launch anticipated in the second half of 2026.
