Djokovic knocked out of Cincinnati Open by Argentina’s Tirante

Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Grand Slam champion, was eliminated from the Cincinnati Open in the second round by Argentina's Thiago Tirante. The intense heat and humidity of the tournament proved too much for Djokovic, who initially looked formidable, winning the first set 6-2. However, as the match progressed, the harsh conditions took their toll on the 39-year-old.

Djokovic required medical assistance during the match, citing a lingering health issue that has affected him over the past five years. Despite Tirante's composed demeanor, Djokovic struggled to regain his previous level of play, ultimately losing the match 2-6, 6-4, and 6-4. This marks the first time since his debut in the Cincinnati Open in 2005 that Djokovic has failed to reach at least the last 32 of the tournament.

Tirante, ranked 50th in the world, hailed his victory as his biggest to date, particularly in the challenging circumstances and against a legendary opponent.
