Djokovic falls and vomits in heat in Cincinnati defeat, reveals health issue

Novak Djokovic, the 24-time Major winner, faced a challenging second-round match against Thiago Tirante at the Cincinnati Open on Saturday. The 39-year-old tennis star took a medical timeout during the second set and was observed vomiting into his towel after falling to his knees. Despite his best efforts, Djokovic ultimately lost the match 2-6, 4-6, 4-6.

This is the best win of my career, said Tirante, acknowledging the pressure of facing a legend like Djokovic. Djokovic, who had never missed a tournament since his debut in 2005, revealed that a recurring health condition worsens in severe heat and humidity, causing him discomfort and making the match more challenging.

During a changeover, Djokovic appeared to be vomiting before receiving a medical timeout, causing him to express uncertainty about his return to the tournament next year. He stated, "It s just a condition that I have, health-wise, that has been bothering me for the past couple of years. [It causes] a lot of issues, especially when it is humid and it is hot." Although Djokovic hopes to return, he acknowledged that it seems more likely that he won't.
