Delhi HC to hear on Monday CBI's challenge to discharge of Arvind Kejriwal in excise case

The Delhi High Court will hear on Monday a petition from the CBI challenging a trial court's decision to discharge Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, and 21 others in the liquor policy case. Justice Manoj Jain is also set to consider applications from Kejriwal and Sisodia asking for the CBI's revision petition to be dismissed as non-maintainable.

Both Kejriwal and Sisodia, who previously skipped the proceedings before Justice Swarana Kanta Sharma, argue that the CBI's petition was filed too hastily and in a frivolous manner, making it difficult for them to comprehend the agency's allegations against them. The CBI has filed the revision petition shortly after the trial court's discharge order, which critics say shows a lack of appreciation for the extensive findings in the judge's 500-page discharge judgment.

The trial court had acquitted all accused individuals after a three-month trial, but the CBI has not pointed to any specific errors or irregularities in the trial court's decision.
