Dasuki Condemns Attack on Kebbe Town, Calls for More Proactive Security Measures

Rep Abdussamad Dasuki, the Deputy Minority Leader of the Federal House of Representatives and a representative for Kebbe/Tambuwal Federal Constituency, has vehemently condemned the recent attack on Kebbe town and neighboring villages in Sokoto State. The assailants, identified as bandits, reportedly arrived in large numbers on Friday morning and showed no restraint, avoiding mobile phones, food items, and petrol.

In a statement released on Saturday, Dasuki emphasized that his primary responsibility as a representative is safeguarding lives and property, ensuring they remain untouchable. He highlighted that a substantial number of his legislative efforts have been centered around addressing the ongoing security challenges plaguing the nation.

Dasuki lamented the pervasive fear and uncertainty gripping the region, with villages continuously under assault. In Kebbe, a significant local economic activity is agriculture and cattle rearing; however, these crucial sectors are becoming increasingly perilous due to the relentless attacks. Dasuki urged governments at all levels, from the Federal down to the Local Government, to adopt a more proactive and decisive approach to curbing this menace, specifically by increasing troop deployment and equipping them with advanced weaponry.

He pledged to persistently work with military and other security stakeholders to ensure that Kebbe and Tambuwal local governments receive the immediate attention and security priority they so desperately need. Dasuki expressed his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased military personnel and civilians who lost their lives in the attack.

He also extended his deepest sympathies to the residents of Kebbe metropolitan area, Umbutu, Barga, Gwandi, Zugu, and other affected communities. He prayed for the departed souls, asking Almighty Allah to forgive them and grant them a place in Paradise, while also bestowing strength and patience upon their families and communities to cope with the devastating loss.
