Danish, Izzatul one step away from Sukma sprint king, queen crowns

SERDANG: Danish Iftikhar Roslee and Izzatul Musfirah Ahmad Kamal Azira secured their spots in the men's and women's 100m finals at the Selangor Malaysia Games (Sukma) on Sunday. Danish, who is vying for a gold medal he won at the 2024 Sarawak Sukma, led the first men's semi-final heat with a time of 10.41 seconds. The Johor runner beat Selangor's Danish Irfan Tamrin, who finished second with a time of 10.75 seconds.

Both Kedah's Dzul Danish Jamari and Perak's Aqieef Musatqin qualified for the final, clocking 10.62 and 10.79 seconds, respectively. The other two finalists from the third heat were Kedah's Umaida Subri with a time of 10.47 and Sabah's Pengiran Aidil Auf Hajam with 10.78. In the women's event, Izzatul Musfirah led her heat with a time of 11.82 seconds, aiming to claim the sprint queen title after finishing second in 2024.

Perak's Nur Izzati Eliana Suhaidi was second with 12.38 seconds, and Selangor's Nur Qaseh Kisatina Nurul Hisyam was third with 12.46 seconds. The top three runners from the second heat, led by Sarawak's Alvinia Aivie Jackly with a time of 12.23 seconds, also advanced to the final. The other final spots were taken by Selangor's Lim Mei Yin with 12.12 seconds and Sabah's Theresia Anastasius with 12.35 seconds.

At the 2024 Sarawak Sukma, Danish Iftikhar was crowned sprint king with a time of 10.53 seconds, while Selangor's Nur Afrina Batrisyia Rizal was crowned sprint queen with an 11.64-second time.
