Cop martyred in 'terrorist' attack in KP's Bannu: police

In Bannu, Pakistan, a police constable named Saifullah Khan was killed in a terrorist attack on Sunday morning, according to police. Constable Khan, who lived in Sorani, was heading home after his shift at the Mirzabet Shah Surani Township police post when unidentified armed men opened fire on him. He sustained multiple bullet wounds and died at the scene.

The police described the incident as a terrorist attack and have launched a search to find those responsible. The funeral prayers for Constable Khan were held at Bannu Police Lines with full official honors, attended by the District Police Officer, senior police officers, and family members. The DPO laid a wreath on the constable's coffin and paid tribute to his sacrifice.

Police have vowed to avenge the death and continue their fight against terrorism. This incident occurred two days after another policeman was killed and another wounded in Bajaur district, and following a suicide attack on a police station in Swat that left 14 dead and 18 injured. In July, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa experienced a surge in terrorist activity, with 154 terrorism-related deaths, a 105% increase from June's 75 deaths.
