Colts, Pacers join forces and donate $125,000 each to help with flood relief efforts in Indiana

The Indianapolis Colts and NBA's Indiana Pacers have each donated $125,000 to assist with the flood relief efforts in Indiana. The WNBA's Indiana Fever and the G League basketball team Noblesville Boom also contributed to the cause. This joint effort took place before the Colts' afternoon training camp practice at the Grand Park Sports Complex in suburban Indianapolis.

The donations will be directed to the American Red Cross. President Donald Trump issued an emergency declaration to aid relief efforts in more than half of Indiana's 92 counties. At least seven people have died and many more have been displaced due to some of the state's worst flooding in decades. Colts co-owner Kalen Jackson expressed emotional distress over the impact on local destinations he visited recently.

He mentioned Conner Prairie and the Fashion Mall, where roads were still inundated with floodwaters. The American Red Cross Indiana Region CEO, Terry Stigdon, stated that 200 people were served on Saturday night and over 4,700 meals and snacks have been provided in recent days. This is not the first time the city's professional teams have united to support community efforts during times of need.

Rachel Simon, chairwoman of the Pacers Foundation and daughter of team owner Herb Simon, praised the partnership, calling it unique and a testament to the teams' care for the community.
