China’s Yu Yiting edges Canadian Summer McIntosh to win Pan Pacs 200 IM

Irvin, California witnessed a thrilling swimming competition on Saturday night as Yu Yiting of China edged out world record holder Summer McIntosh of Toronto to claim victory in the 200-meter individual medley at the Pan Pacific Championships. The event marked Yu Yiting's first all-time win, as she shattered her previous championship record with a time of two minutes, 7.45 seconds.

McIntosh, a Canadian star who secured a single individual victory earlier in the week in the 400-meter individual medley, took silver in the same time as Yu Yiting. American Alex Walsh secured bronze in the race. McIntosh, who qualified for the 400 free championship final, expressed disappointment in her performance, stating, "It wasn't a horrible swim, but getting touched out is something that is never a good thing to feel." Overall, the meet did not go as McIntosh had hoped.
