Chiang Rai’s Thoeng district warns residents as water level exceeds 7 metres

On the night of August 15, 2026, the Wiang Thoeng Subdistrict Municipality in Chiang Rai's Thoeng district issued an urgent warning to residents. The water level had risen slightly to 7.05 meters, just above the 7-meter watch threshold. Throughout the previous 24 hours, the water level fluctuated between a high of 7.05 meters and a low of 6.80 meters.

Officials noted that the water was currently rising at a rate of around 2 centimeters per hour, although the overall situation appeared relatively stable compared to the day before.

Meteorological forecasts suggested a 53% probability of rain in the Thoeng district within the next three hours, with an expected rainfall of approximately 0.0 millimeters. In light of these developments, the municipality advised residents living near waterways and in low-lying areas to remain vigilant overnight and elevate their belongings to prevent any potential damage.

Additionally, the Wiang Thoeng Subdistrict Municipality emphasized the importance of keeping a close eye on vulnerable individuals, such as children, the elderly, and those confined to bed, throughout the night.
