Bengal CJP volunteer’s father dies after attack over school infra ‘expose’

The father of a volunteer for the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) in Bankura district, West Bengal, succumbed to injuries following an alleged attack over school infrastructure issues. Janab Malik, the father of CJP volunteer Shaik Abdul Hafeez, died on Saturday from head injuries sustained during the assault. Hafeez had visited the local government school in his village to evaluate the school’s infrastructure as part of CJP’s ‘School Thik Karo’ campaign.

Upon his return, Hafeez and his father were allegedly attacked by armed individuals, believed to be from the BJP, who demanded a video statement from Hafeez apologizing for his actions. Despite his injuries, Hafeez’s father succumbed to his trauma on Saturday. CJP founder and national convener Abhijeet Dipke vowed that the party would stand with Hafeez and demanded the immediate arrest of the assailants.

The incident has sparked a political row, with CJP alleging no medico-legal action was taken following the attack, while Chief Minister Suvendu Adhikari claimed no BJP workers were involved and vowed strict action against those responsible.
