Batwara 1947 Box Office Collection Day 2: Sunny Deol & Shabana Azmi's Film Gets Independence Day Boost, Collects ₹13.50 Crore

On Day 2 of its release, the film Batwara 1947, starring Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi, saw a significant boost in box office collections due to the Independence Day holiday. The movie, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, collected Rs 13.50 crore net across 8,071 shows in India, marking a growth of around 135% compared to its opening-day figure of Rs 5.75 crore.

This Day 2 collection has taken the film's total India net collection to Rs 19.25 crore, with a total India gross collection of Rs 22.91 crore. Overseas, the film collected Rs 2 crore on Day 2, bringing its total overseas gross collection to Rs 3.50 crore, and its worldwide gross collection currently stands at Rs 26.41 crore after two days.

Despite the encouraging Day 2 performance, Batwara 1947 still faces the challenge of recovering its reported production budget of around Rs 120 crore, as it has a long way to go to make a significant impact. The film received mixed reviews from critics and audiences, with The Free Press Journal reviewer giving it 2.5 stars, praising the performances by Sunny Deol and Shabana Azmi but noting that the film doesn't fully reach its potential.
