Barcelona generate around €50 million FFP space by selling Spanish forward – report

Barcelona have sold Spanish forward Ferran Torres to Paris Saint-Germain for a fee close to €50 million, generating significant financial space under their Financial Fair Play (FFP) regulations, according to a SPORT report. The Catalan club had been under pressure to offload the World Cup hero before his contract expired, as he was due to leave for free at the end of the season.

Torres joined Barcelona from Manchester City in January 2022 for €55 million, with a five-and-a-half-year contract running until 2027. This left the club with an annual amortisation cost of approximately €10 million. By selling Torres one year early, Barcelona stands to record an accounting profit of roughly €40 million from the transfer, after deducting the remaining €10 million book value of his contract.

Additionally, removing Torres' wages - which he earned around €10 million per season - further boosts Barcelona's FFP impact by another €50 million. This financial boost could help Barcelona with their own signings this summer, potentially making the acquisition of players like Rodri and Karim Adeyemi more feasible.
