Adeleke reaffirms endorsement of Tinubu for 2027, calls him Osun son

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has once again expressed his support for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election, referring to him as a "son of Osun State." This reaffirmed endorsement came during a press conference held on Sunday, just after the Independent National Electoral Commission announced Adeleke's victory in the governorship election held on August 15.

During the conference, the governor praised Tinubu for his backing of a free and fair election in the state. "Mr. President is a son of Osun State, and I hereby reaffirm my earlier endorsement of him for a second term in the 2027 presidential election," Adeleke stated. Although Adeleke is a member of the Accord Party, he had previously backed Tinubu for the 2027 presidential race.

The governor was declared the winner of the election by the State Returning Officer, Prof. Joshua Ogunwole, shortly after 7:24 am on Sunday. Tinubu secured the highest number of votes in the election, receiving 511,067 votes, while his closest rival, Bola Oyebamiji of the All Progressives Congress, garnered 444,815 votes. Adeleke won 19 out of the state’s 30 local government areas, while Oyebamiji won 11.

Najeem Salaam, representing the African Democratic Congress, came in third with 17,180 votes. Adeleke thanked Tinubu for his congratulatory call upon winning the election and expressed hope that Oyebamiji would also extend his congratulations.
