Adamawa Cash Transfer Programme Trains 21 LGA Desk Officers on Beneficiary Outreach

The National Cash Transfer Programme, in partnership with the Adamawa State Cash Transfer Programme, conducted a one-day training session for Cash Transfer Desk Officers from the 21 Local Government Areas within Adamawa State. The event, held on Friday at PAWECA's conference hall in Yola, aimed to enhance the knowledge and skills of the officers in effectively reaching out to beneficiaries and providing post-transfer support.

The focus of the training was to ensure that beneficiaries are well-informed about their entitlements and can access their payments. Mr. Gilbert Isa Dokile, the Programme Manager, encouraged active participation and shared experiences among the participants to improve the implementation of the programme at the grassroots level. Mr. Sydney Abubakar, representing the PAWECA Director-General, emphasized the shared goal of improving the living conditions of impoverished households through targeted interventions, particularly supporting vulnerable women and households.

Mr. Usman Buba Ardo, a representative of the Adamawa State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development, described the training as timely, given the current economic challenges in the state. The training clarified the roles and responsibilities of various actors involved in the beneficiary outreach process, including implementation modalities, work tools, and guidelines.

Key topics covered included beneficiary sensitisation, information sharing, transparency, accountability, and data collection. The training also stressed the importance of coordination among the National Cash Transfer Programme, the Adamawa State Cash Transfer Programme, PAWECA, and Local Government structures. Participants were encouraged to facilitate connections between cash transfer beneficiaries and livelihood opportunities, including small-scale businesses, to enhance household income, resilience, and self-reliance.

This training is expected to bolster beneficiary outreach across the 21 LGAs, ensuring that impoverished households receive timely information and are well-positioned to access and utilize the benefits of the Cash Transfer Programme.
