80th Independence Day Celebrated with Patriotic Fervour at Smt. M.M.K. College

Smt. M.M.K. College of Commerce and Economics marked its 80th Independence Day with immense enthusiasm and patriotism. The celebration united students, faculty, guests, and college representatives in a poignant tribute to their nation. Attendees included principal Dr. (CA) Kishore S. Peshori, professor Vishal R. Tomar, doctors Manikandan Iyer and Anjali Verma, alongside college faculty and students.

The event kicked off with the raising of the Indian flag by principal Dr. (CA) Kishore S. Peshori. A highlight came when special students from the DEEDS Foundation, a part of the college, performed the National Anthem through sign language - a powerful display of inclusivity that resonated with everyone present. Principal Peshori addressed the crowd, praising the students and staff for their role in shaping the country’s future. He stressed that young, aware citizens are vital for building a strong, progressive India.

Notable guest Mr. Asif Bhamla, a BJP leader, was the chief speaker. He urged students to be responsible citizens and actively contribute to the nation’s growth. The event was further enriched by the presence of President representatives and Rotary Club members, enhancing the themes of community spirit and unity.

Even with heavy rain, the students' energy and spirit remained high. Cultural performances showcased the college’s commitment to a vibrant, responsible youth community. To align with this, students and staff pledged to stay away from drugs, reflecting the college’s focus on health and responsibility.

Various college departments—NSS, Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension (DLLE), Sports Committee, and Cultural Committee—actively participated, ensuring the programme was engaging and inspiring. The 80th Independence Day celebration at Smt. M.M.K. College was more than just a tribute to India’s independence; it served as a reminder of the collective responsibilities, unity, inclusivity, discipline, social duty, and active contribution to building a great nation.
