In a historic moment for women's football in Africa, Algeria claimed their first-ever podium finish at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026. After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Algeria triumphed over hosts Morocco 3-2 on penalties. The match took place in Rabat, marking the second encounter between the two North African teams, following Morocco’s previous victory in the group stages.

Morocco took an early lead in the 17th minute when Ibtissam Jraidi’s shot hit the crossbar, only for Kautar Azraf to equalize nine minutes later with a well-executed goal. Despite a promising opportunity in the 63rd minute, Algeria struggled to break through in the second half.
