World Cup Star Ferran Torres Leaves Barcelona for PSG

Spanish football star Ferran Torres has announced his transfer from Barcelona to Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) for the 2026 summer season. The 26-year-old World Cup-winning forward signed a contract with the French club until 2031. PSG expressed their delight in securing Torres, who will wear the number 9 shirt. Several sources report that PSG paid a hefty transfer fee of 50 million euros to acquire Torres from Barcelona.

The 26-year-old former Valencia CF and Manchester City player expressed his excitement about joining the ambitious PSG, thanking PSG President Nasser al-Khelaifi, football adviser Luis Campos, and coach Luis Enrique for the opportunity. Torres began his football journey in futsal before joining Valencia CF's academy at age seven.

Torres then moved to Manchester City in 2020, where he helped the club win the Premier League and League Cup in 2021. At Barcelona, he made 207 appearances and scored 65 goals, contributing to three La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey, and two Spanish Super Cups.

Internationally, Torres has been a key player for Spain, earning 65 caps and helping his national team win the 2023 UEFA Nations League and the 2024 UEFA European Championship. The World Cup victory in 2026 was his crowning achievement, scoring the only goal in extra time to secure Spain's 1-0 victory over Argentina. Now, Torres will have the chance to reunite with his former coach Luis Enrique at PSG, where he is expected to be a crucial player in the Parisian club's attacking lineup as they aim for further success.
