Westerhof Appeals to Presidency for Relocation of House Promised Him to Safer Environment

Former Super Eagles coach Clemens Westerhof has requested that President Bola Tinubu relocate the house granted to him and his family in Gwagwalada, to a safer location within the Federal Capital Territory. The Dutch coach reminisced about his football achievements with Nigeria, including their victory in the 1994 Africa Cup of Nations and qualification for the FIFA World Cup.

Born in the Netherlands, Westerhof expressed deep gratitude for the opportunity to serve Nigeria, as his family had been offered a house by the government in 2019. However, the house is situated in a remote area with significant security risks, such as the threat of kidnapping, making it impossible for the family to enjoy their gift safely.

Westerhof and his wife had previously approached relevant authorities and the former Housing Minister, but have now turned to the current President, appealing for the house to be moved to a more secure area within Abuja. Westerhof emphasized that the honour given to him and his family should be one that can be appreciated without fear, and he hoped that the government would consider his request.
