[UPDATED] Anwar: Government to step up reform agenda

PKR president Anwar Ibrahim announced that the government will intensify its reform agenda. Initially focused on political stability, national security, and economic growth, the administration has now progressed sufficiently to advance the reforms more decisively. The 2026 PKR National Congress in Melaka heard Anwar's policy speech, in which he highlighted several reforms already implemented under his leadership.

Despite criticism calling for more change, Anwar reminded the audience that reforms have indeed been carried out. Several key reforms, such as the Audit Act 1957 amendments, the establishment of the Special Task Force on Agency Reform, and the introduction of the Consumer Credit Act 2025 and Gig Workers Act 2025, were mentioned. Anwar emphasized the importance of gradual change, cautioning against rushing reforms.
