Tourism Ministry updates Hajj season accommodation regulations and standards to enhance service quality

The Ministry of Tourism in Riyadh has revised the regulations and standards for Hajj season accommodation activities, licensing, and classification. These updates aim to improve the readiness of hospitality facilities, elevate service quality, and streamline operations ahead of the 2027 Hajj season.

Nasr Alansari, a spokesperson for the Ministry of Tourism, explained that the revisions are designed to solidify the regulatory and operational framework, ensuring that accommodations are thoroughly prepared to welcome pilgrims. Key requirements encompass confirming operational readiness, adhering to safety and maintenance standards, maintaining essential service continuity, and complying with operational standards to guarantee pilgrims a secure and well-organized stay.

Accommodation facilities for the Hajj season are categorized into economy and first-class classifications, each with specific operational mandates. These requirements encompass standards for common areas, guest rooms, reception spaces, cleanliness, upkeep, and guest services. Furthermore, the ministry outlines multiple stages of inspection and oversight preceding licensing, operational commencement, and throughout the operational duration, which reinforces compliance and elevates service quality.

The ministry emphasized that welcoming pilgrims is a shared and national obligation, steeped in a historical legacy that spans centuries. In light of this, the ministry has crafted these standards to elevate service quality, furnish pilgrims with a secure and spiritually enriching hospitality experience, and underscore Saudi Arabia's dedication to serving pilgrims throughout history.

The ministry urged individuals applying for Hajj 2027 accommodation facility licenses to proactively meet the requirements, complete requisite maintenance and preparatory tasks before submitting their license applications.
