Tijjani Reijnders and the big-money Premier League signings sold after one season

Manchester City are set to sell Dutch midfielder Tijjani Reijnders to Al-Qadsiah in Saudi Pro-League for £52 million. Reijnders, who joined City from AC Milan last summer, had only one season with the club before his departure. His £46.5 million transfer fee is not the first high-profile signing to be sold after just one Premier League season.

Chelsea's Hernan Crespo, a £46.5 million acquisition himself, was sold after a similar stint in England in 2004. Crespo, who had scored 12 goals in his first season at Chelsea, was then loaned to AC Milan before returning for a second season in 2005/06. Angel Di Maria, bought by Manchester United for a British transfer record £79.3 million in 2014, was also sold after one season, moving to Paris Saint-Germain for £15.7 million.

Both Di Maria and Benteke struggled to settle at their respective English clubs, with Di Maria citing issues with manager Louis van Gaal and Benteke finding himself out of favor under new manager Jurgen Klopp.
