Sukma records set to tumble as weightlifters primed for action

KUALA LUMPUR: Expectations are high for a record-breaking Selangor Malaysia Games (Sukma) weightlifting competition, as competitors gear up for action tomorrow in Kajang. MWF vice president Ahmad Janius Abdullah anticipates a highly competitive and balanced event, contrasting the dominance seen from states like Perlis in the past.

Janius believes that while teams such as Terengganu and Johor have prepared diligently, with Johor even training abroad in Indonesia, no single state is poised to dominate the competition. He predicts a significant number of games and possibly national records being broken, with the introduction of new weight classes later this month leading to legacy records.

The weight categories for men include under-60kg, under-65kg, under-71kg, under-79kg, under-88kg, under-98kg, under-110kg, and over-110kg, while women's categories consist of under-48kg, under-53kg, under-58kg, under-63kg, under-69kg, under-77kg, under-86kg, and over-86kg.
