Subang airport runway reopens after helicopter explosion, eight flights diverted

Subang Airport's runway has resumed operations following a helicopter explosion that occurred earlier today, disrupting air travel for a short period. The Malaysian Civil Aviation Authority (CAAM) reported the incident at Taxiway Victor, where a Kamov KaV-32S helicopter belonging to a Ukrainian company caught fire and exploded during an engine run-up test.

Capt Datuk Norazman Mahmud, CAAM's chief executive officer, confirmed that the runway was reopened at 2:57pm. Although the runway was closed for a brief period, eight inbound flights were diverted to other airports, and three departing flights had to be delayed. The explosion, which took place at 12:28pm, resulted in minimal injuries; one Ukrainian crew member sustained minor injuries from flying debris.

Passengers were advised to consult their respective airlines for the most recent updates on their flights. The airport's flight information displays were updated to reflect the revised schedules for several flights heading to various destinations.
