In the latest episode of Star Trek: Strange New Worlds titled "A Case of Chiaroscuro," Dr. Joseph M'Benga, played by Babs Olusanmokun, helps his fellow crew members, Captain Pike, Ensign Uhura, and First Officer Una, navigate a covert mission on a planet occupied by Klingons. M'Benga's calm demeanor and effective advice prove to be crucial for their success, earning a 100% success rate for the mission.

Olusanmokun speaks about the dual nature of M'Benga, who is both a healer and a lethal warrior. He reveals that the actor was drawn to the role due to this complexity, appreciating the struggle and obstacles M'Benga faces. In Season 2's "Under the Cloak of War," we learn that M'Benga and Chapel were part of the special forces, known as "The Ghost," and were known as "The Doctor" for their lethal combat skills.
