So far so good, it has been a very peaceful atmosphere - Afenyo-Markin on NPP regional elections

The Minority Leader of the National Democratic Congress, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has praised the peaceful atmosphere surrounding the NPP regional executive elections. He expressed satisfaction with the conduct of delegates and aspirants, noting that there has been no violence and mutual respect has prevailed. The NPP regional elections took place on Saturday, August 15, 2026, in the Ashanti Region.

Deputy Minority Leader in Parliament and Member of Parliament for Asokwa, Madam Patricia Appiah-Agyei, also addressed journalists during the election. She urged delegates in the region to elect leaders who would rebuild the party's grassroots structures, restore unity, energize supporters, and transform the region into a formidable electoral force once again.

She criticized the current government, stating that it has failed the nation and that the youth are eagerly awaiting the return of the NPP to power to continue its social intervention, job creation, and economic emancipation efforts.

Madam Appiah-Agyei appealed to delegates to elect bold, affable, and experienced leaders who can lead the party's efforts to regain power in the 2028 general elections. She emphasized that the next generation of NPP leaders must be prepared to defend the party, unite its grassroots, and work towards rebuilding the organization ahead of the upcoming polls. According to her, the party needs individuals with the courage, experience, and commitment necessary to tackle challenges and restore the faith of its supporters.

She advised the delegates to choose a leader who embodies the spirit of the party and is willing to make bold decisions. Madam Appiah-Agyei stressed that party leaders must demonstrate their commitment to the NPP even before assuming office.
