Simpsons creator Matt Groening implies that a Hit & Run remaster is coming, current showrunner hastily disputes

Matt Groening, the creator of The Simpsons, suggested during a panel discussion at the D23 Disney fan event that an updated version of the video game The Simpsons: Hit & Run might be released. However, Matt Selman, the current showrunner, quickly downplayed the idea, stating "Or not." Groening, who seems to hold an "emperor emeritus" role in the day-to-day operations of The Simpsons, may have based his statement on outdated information.

Selman, who wrote the original game, has also previously expressed that "never say never" should be applied to the possibility of the series coming back. The game, which was released in 2003, was a GTA-lite style title where players could drive or run around Springfield and get up to hijinks. Its cult classic status and nostalgia appeal have led to a dedicated fanbase.
