Questions are emerging about Zambia's security services following an armed raid at the home of Presidential Candidate Hon. Brian Mundubile. Reports of gunfire, injuries, missing belongings, and uncertainty surrounding the welfare of Mundubile's political and security team have raised concerns. The wife of former Lunte Member of Parliament and Transport Minister Hon.

Mutotwe Kafwaya was denied access to her husband at Maina Soko Military Hospital, where he was reportedly shot twice during the incident. Kafwaya's wife sought to see him but was reportedly unable to gain entry, further complicating the situation. The National Reconciliation Party for Unity and Prosperity (NRPUP) has labeled the incident as an armed, military-style operation and is demanding disclosure of the participating security agencies, command structure, and authority.

Witnesses claim heavily armed personnel from the Zambia Army, Zambia Police, and other security forces stormed Mundubile's Kabulonga residence, causing panic among the residents. Mundubile's wife was in direct danger, and a bullet reportedly narrowly missed him. Other individuals present during the operation include the Presidential Spokesperson, Patrick Mwansa, Mundubile's driver, and his bodyguard.

The chaos led to the ransacking of the residence, with allegations of stolen money, jewelry, and other property. NRPUP Chairperson Elias Kamanga demands an independent investigation and public accounting of the incident, attributing responsibility to President Hakainde Hichilema as Head of State and Commander-in-Chief. The police's response to the violence on August 13 election day has also come under scrutiny, as the agency is expected to act professionally without waiting for formal complaints.

The Mundubile operation follows an earlier armed raid on the presidential media office, raising more questions about the actions of law-enforcement agencies in the aftermath of the election.
