This downward trend is being projected by economist Oleh Ustenko, who warns that the economic decline will likely persist for a prolonged period.

Consumer finances are deteriorating, with 16 out of every 100 Russians unable to repay their loans. The economy faces new threats from potential U.S. sanctions targeting Russia's oil sector, which could include tariffs as high as 500% on Russian goods and sanctions on Russian banks and key industries. Meanwhile, Russia is grappling with the economic fallout of the war and sanctions, with businesses cutting spending and investment plans, and revenues from key export sectors shrinking.

The Ukrainian Foreign Intelligence Service has noted a decline in several Russian regions, excluding extraction and public administration. Inflation is expected to surpass previous forecasts due to infrastructure damage from fuel shortages and Ukrainian drone strikes on oil refineries and logistics facilities. The strain on Russia's wartime economy is mounting, as declining growth, falling export revenues, rising military spending, inflation, and fuel supply disruptions combine to put pressure on the nation's economic stability.
