Qatar Chamber reaffirms commitment to empowering persons with disabilities in labor market

Qatar Chamber has reaffirmed its dedication to empowering individuals with disabilities in the labor market, recognizing the private sector's crucial role in advancing Qatar's inclusive and sustainable development. Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al-Thani, Chairman of Qatar Chamber, highlighted the growing importance of this approach as Qatar prepares to host the Fourth Global Disability Summit 2028 in Doha.

The Chairman commended Qatar's ongoing efforts to advance the rights and inclusion of persons with disabilities across all sectors of society.

Hosting the 2028 Summit underscores Qatar's commitment to equal opportunities and solidifies its position as a leading global partner in human development. By aligning international visions and launching impactful initiatives, Qatar aims to transform disability-related challenges into significant investment opportunities in human capital, both nationally and internationally.

The Chairman stressed that the Qatari private sector plays a vital role in this effort, advocating for an integrated ecosystem that goes beyond employment, encompassing comprehensive training, rehabilitation, skills development, workplace accessibility, and human resources readiness.

Qatar Chamber has implemented several initiatives focusing on skill development and capabilities for people with disabilities, marking a shift from traditional support and care towards a comprehensive strategy centered on economic empowerment, capacity building, sustainable employment, and enabling individuals with disabilities to actively contribute to the national development process.

The Chairman also emphasized Qatar Chamber's commitment to strengthening partnerships with organizations like the Volunteer Initiative for the Employment of Persons with Disabilities to facilitate communication between these entities and private-sector companies. He stressed the importance of raising awareness about providing suitable job opportunities, leveraging the abilities and skills of people with disabilities, and encouraging companies to foster inclusive and sustainable work environments.
