Punjab Changes Hiring and Contract Rules for College Teaching Interns

The government of Punjab has recently updated the guidelines surrounding the appointment and renewal of College Teaching Interns (CTIs) working in state-run educational institutions. Under the revised policy, CTIs who consistently demonstrate satisfactory performance will not be subjected to the traditional hiring procedure once more.

Instead, their contracts will be extended based on thorough performance assessments. College principals have been entrusted with the task of evaluating 5 key aspects of temporary teaching staff performance, namely students' academic achievements, their behavior, attendance, disciplinary conduct, and other relevant performance indicators.

Officials have stated that those meeting the established criteria will be kept on board, while teachers with subpar evaluations will be replaced through new recruitment efforts. The central authorities will maintain records of these evaluations to ensure transparency and accountability. The amendment in the policy is imminent prior to the resumption of classes in Punjab's colleges on September 1.
