Pixel’s Quick Settings are finally becoming properly customizable on Android 17

Google has announced that Pixel users will soon have more control over the Quick Settings feature on Android 17. The latest QPR2 beta version of Android 17 includes a new Layout editor for Quick Settings that lets users change the order of its main sections. This is an expansion on the customization options previously available, which only allowed minor rearrangements of individual tiles.

Now, users can reorder three major components: the brightness bar, Quick Settings tiles, and media player, in six possible combinations. The Layout tab appears after opening Quick Settings and tapping the pencil icon, allowing users to drag and reorder the three elements. However, Google does not allow users to remove any of these components.

This new customization option is part of Google's broader Android 17 efforts to make Quick Settings more flexible, following previous updates like the Material 3 Expressive redesign and resizable tiles. Android 17 has also introduced changes to HDR video, improved network controls, and other quality-of-life features. While the final set of features could change before the December release of Android 17, this customization feature will give Pixel users a daily interaction with a more personalized interface.
