Pixar Reveals ‘Incredibles 3’ Story Details, Debuts First Look Image

Pixar has announced details about the upcoming third installment of their beloved superhero franchise, "Incredibles 3." The film, which will hit theaters on June 16, 2028, is set to be directed by Peter Sohn, who previously directed "The Good Dinosaur" and "Elemental." Brad Bird, the original director and co-writer of the first two films, will continue his role as a writer and executive producer.

In a conversation with Pete Docter, Pixar's Chief Creative Officer, the studio shared insights into the new film's plot. Docter revealed that the story will revolve around the younger characters, who sneak out to engage in super-heroic activities. The narrative will explore the complexities of superheroes, as the legalization of their powers doesn't guarantee that they are all virtuous. A supervillain more formidable than the entire family is expected to pose a significant threat.

Since the release of the first film in 2004, "The Incredibles" has spawned a wide array of merchandise, theme park attractions, video games, and short films. The first film followed the journey of Mr. Incredible, a superhero who left his crime-fighting career to become a devoted father and husband. However, when superheroes were banned, he was forced back into his former role.

The sequel, "Incredibles 2," delved into Helen, also known as Elastigirl, getting involved with a mogul aiming to revive superhero prominence, leading to a dangerous conspiracy. With "Incredibles 2" being the highest-grossing animated feature at the time of its release, the franchise continues to captivate audiences worldwide.
