#OsunDecides2026: Tension breaks out at Deputy governor Adewusi’s polling unit

A fierce altercation erupted at the polling station of Osun State Deputy Governor and Accord Party candidate, Prince Kola Adewusi, during Saturday's gubernatorial election in Ile-Ife. The confrontation took place when the All Progressives Congress candidate, Benjamin Kayode Adereti, visited Adewusi’s polling unit. Adereti had previously cast his own ballot at Waasin Polling Unit 11, Ilaare Ward 3, before proceeding to Adewusi’s polling unit.

Eyewitnesses reported that the arrival of Adereti incited resistance from some supporters of Adewusi present at the polling station, leading to a heated verbal exchange and growing tensions. The atmosphere at the polling location became momentarily chaotic as the supporters engaged in a verbal sparring match, tensions escalating.

As of the time of reporting, the motive behind Adereti's unexpected visit to the polling unit remained undisclosed.
