#OsunDecides2026: Protect votes during collation, Adeleke urges Tinubu

Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has called on President Bola Tinubu to ensure security agencies safeguard the electoral process during collation of results. The appeal was made in a post on social media, with Adeleke expressing worry over rumors of attempts to disrupt collation centers in Osun State. He urged Tinubu to issue a firm warning to the security heads guarding the state, emphasizing the importance of protecting the electoral process' integrity.

Adeleke condemned the notion of politicians trying to interfere with the collation, noting the substantial number of security personnel deployed during the election. He encouraged Tinubu to reiterate his commitment to guaranteeing that Osun residents' votes count and that the final outcome mirrors their genuine choice. Specifically, Adeleke called on the Nigeria Police Force, Department of State Services, Nigerian Army, and Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps to follow the directive.

He also urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to receive the necessary support to complete the process and deliver a credible and transparent outcome. The Osun governor praised voters for their participation in the election, urging security agencies to remain vigilant as the results progress from polling units to local government areas.

Adeleke commended INEC for maintaining high standards throughout the election and called for continued integrity during the collation process. The Federal Government has provided adequate security, and the governor expressed confidence in the institutions involved. Adeleke urged Osun residents to remain peaceful and law-abiding as the collation continues.
