On Independence Day, Bhagwant Mann spares rivals, warns those disturbing peace

Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann delivered a stern warning during his Independence Day address on Saturday, asserting that "seeds of hatred can never germinate" in the state. The address did not include any political attacks, with Mann focusing on Punjab's contribution to the freedom struggle, the trauma of Partition, and the achievements of the Aam Aadmi Party government.

Despite not naming any political rivals, Mann emphasized the state's fertile soil and the community's commitment to "Sarbat Da Bhala," or well-being of all. The Chief Minister did not announce any major new initiatives, but instead highlighted the government's accomplishments, particularly the Mukh Mantri Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana, which provides monthly financial assistance to women.

Under the scheme, women in the general category receive Rs 1,000 per month, while those in the Scheduled Caste category receive Rs 1,500 per month. As of now, 74.59 lakh women have registered for the scheme, and financial assistance has been transferred to 65.62 lakh women. Mann urged eligible women to continue registering for the scheme and enjoy the benefits.

The healthcare sector also received attention, with Mann stating that Punjab now has over 1,100 Aam Aadmi Clinics, and more than 5.25 crore people have availed OPD services at these clinics. The Mukh Mantri Teerth Yatra scheme, which has benefited more than four lakh pilgrims, was also highlighted. Mann's address concluded with a tribute to Punjab's history and contribution to India's Independence, as well as the trauma of Partition.
