Odeneho Kwaku Appiah beats former EPA boss Kokofu, to emerge NPP Ashanti chair

Odeneho Kwaku Appiah emerged victorious as the Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Ashanti Region, following the party’s regional executive elections. He secured a substantial lead with 663 votes, outpacing his main rival, Henry Kwabena Kokofu, who received 269 votes. Despite initial concerns about a tightly contested race, Appiah's win was clear-cut.

Following his victory speech, Appiah thanked the delegates for their trust in him and urged the party members to maintain unity. He also requested supporters to celebrate the victory responsibly as the party embarked on its reorganisation in the region. This was Appiah's third attempt at securing the position, having been defeated by the former Regional Chairman, Benard Antwi-Boasiako, also known as Chairman Wontumi, in the previous two elections.

The election saw the election of ten other executives to fill various positions. Rita Asobayire, Chairperson of the Elections Committee, praised the delegates for ensuring a peaceful and orderly voting process. The newly elected officials are set to spearhead the NPP's mobilization and restructuring initiatives within the Ashanti Region as the party gears up for the 2028 general elections.
