Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II sworn in as President of Sunyani Traditional Council

Odeefour Ogyeamansan Boahen Korkor II, the Paramount Chief of the Sunyani Traditional Area, has been officially sworn in as President of the Sunyani Traditional Council (STC). The ceremony took place at the Nana Bosoma Royal Palace in Sunyani, with Her Ladyship Jennifer Pokua Amponsah, a Sunyani Circuit Court Judge, administering the Oath of Office and Secrecy. The swearing-in was a result of Odeefour Korkor II's gazetting by the National House of Chiefs on July 30, 2026, in line with the Chieftaincy Act.

Representatives from various sectors, including government officials, chiefs and queens, security agencies, and the public, attended the colorful ceremony. Nana Kwaku Sarbeng Ababio, the Akwamuhene and Acting President of the STC, presented official documents to Odeefour Korkor II, wishing him a peaceful reign. Nana Boadi Akrofa, the Adontenhene and longest-serving member of the STC, pledged the Council's commitment to support the Paramount Chief.

In his acceptance speech, Odeefour Ogyeamansan Korkor II expressed gratitude to the people of Sunyani, security agencies, and the Bono Regional Peace Council for their backing. He pledged to serve the people with diligence and humility, aiming for the traditional area's holistic development. The Paramount Chief urged the three royal gates of the Boahen Royal Family to put aside their differences and unite for the common good.

He cautioned against illegal land sales, and advised residents to avoid constructing in waterways and flood-prone areas. Odeefour Korkor II also warned sub-chiefs against the sale of cemetery lands and illegal mining, known as "galamsey," threatening sanctions for those who violate these rules.
