NCB Puts Alleged Drug Trafficker Navin Chichkar Under Preventive Detention Under PITNDPS Act

Mumbai, August 15, 2026 - The Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has taken preventive measures to detain Navin Gurunath Chichkar under the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PITNDPS) Act, according to officials. Chichkar, a seasoned narco-offender, is accused of being a crucial player in the illicit narcotics trade, with operations extending across Maharashtra, Mumbai, and Navi Mumbai.

He is linked to international suppliers, specifically from the USA and Thailand. The PITNDPS Act empowers authorities to apprehend individuals involved in illicit drug trade, even before any crime is committed or proven, in a bid to prevent major drug-related offenses. Chichkar, who has a history of narcotics trafficking and criminal conspiracies, was previously detained by the NCB in 2021.

He fled the country but managed to reestablish connections with drug suppliers in Thailand. He was apprehended in Malaysia following an Interpol Red Notice. Authorities have seized assets worth over Rs 10 crores acquired through his illicit drug trafficking activities.
