Mired in nasty slump, Brewers don't believe time off needed for William Contreras

Dodger Stadium witnessed reporters discussing the number of balls William Contreras hit to specific locations on August 14. Manager Pat Murphy challenged the assembled reporters to determine how many of Contreras' at-bats resulted in outs when he hit the ball to right-center, center, or right field at 100+ mph. Contreras was currently hitting .163/.248/.264 since July and was 0 for his last 17 at-bats.

However, he had hit a ball hard and in the air, resulting in an out at 104 mph to center field. Manager Murphy believed that giving Contreras a day off was not the solution to his struggles. The manager stated that Contreras' poor performance was not due to a lack of rest but rather his unique approach to the game. Contreras embraced the challenge and maintained his determination to keep swinging and working harder.

Both Contreras and Christian Yelich, the Brewers' two highest-paid players, were currently struggling. Yelich had a better record of .200/.250/.333, but he too acknowledged the importance of continuing to work and trust the process. Both players were part of a larger group of Brewers players facing slumps, but the team's management believed that continued hard work would lead to better results.
