MCE Sandra Kpedor supports Whuti farmers affected by crop losses

Municipal Chief Executive Sandra Kpedor has offered assistance to farmers in Whuti who have suffered significant crop losses due to a whitefly infestation. This intervention came after a visit by Ms Kpedor and officials from the Department of Agriculture to evaluate the extent of the damage and interact with the affected farmers.

Ms Kpedor encouraged the farmers to maintain their spirits amidst their losses and assured them of the Assembly's commitment to working alongside the Regional Department of Agriculture to address their issues. She stated, "Your pain is our pain. The Assembly stands with you, and we will not leave you alone in this difficult time. We are already engaging the regional authorities to ensure you receive the needed support."

In a bid to provide immediate relief, Ms Kpedor distributed a shipment of farm insecticides to aid in controlling the whitefly infestation. The crops affected, including vegetables and cash crops, have been severely damaged, posing a threat to the farmers' livelihoods and food production. During this engagement, agriculture officials also educated the farmers on effective pest-control methods, early detection of infestations, and other practices to prevent future outbreaks.

Ms Kpedor reiterated that agriculture remains a priority for the Anlo Municipal Assembly and pledged ongoing support for farmers through input provision, technical assistance, and advocacy. "We will continue to support our farmers with the right inputs, technical support, and advocacy so that Anlo can remain food secure and prosperous," she emphasized. The farmers expressed their gratitude to Ms Kpedor and the Assembly for their timely intervention and appealed for further support to aid in their recovery.
