Maguire fumes as Broncos season plunges further with 15th loss

Brisbane Broncos coach Michael Maguire criticized his team for a poor performance, as they suffered their 15th loss of the season. Brisbane remains a possibility of finishing with the lowest possible standing this season, should the St George Illawarra Dragons triumph over Wests Tigers on Sunday.

Maguire emphasized the need for the team to reassess their approach, stating that their effort was inadequate. The Warriors scored three quick tries early on, putting Brisbane under pressure and leaving them struggling throughout the game. Despite defending his players earlier in the season, Maguire was blunt in his post-match assessment, saying, "Not good enough, just plain and simple. We won't want to do that next weekend because we’ll cop the same."

The team faces a difficult upcoming match against last year's minor premiers, Canberra, who also have a poor season and are out of finals contention. While Brisbane's motivation may be questioned, Maguire believes the players are playing for the Broncos, a club they are proud to represent. He reiterated the need for a thorough examination of the team's performance, emphasizing that simply keeping calm was not an acceptable response to their disappointing showing.
