Live: Wallabies set to unleash hulking prop in historic Test against Japan

The Wallabies are on the verge of achieving their first three consecutive Test victories since 2024, as they prepare to host Japan for a landmark Test match at Townsville. This encounter marks the first time these two nations have played rugby at the highest level on Australian soil in 39 years. In this historic match, the 1,000th Wallaby cap will be earned by 22-year-old prop Massimo De Lutiis.

Born in Sydney and raised in Queensland, De Lutiis honed his skills at The Southport School on the Gold Coast before making his mark in Super Rugby Pacific with the Queensland Reds in 2025 under the guidance of coach Les Kiss. The Wallabies have previously secured a hard-fought 35-32 victory over Japan in Osaka, despite the Brave Blossoms' resilience in the previous two meetings where they narrowly avoided defeat by less than a try.
