KP Launches Virtual School for AI Education

The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has introduced the Global Virtual School (GVS), an initiative aimed at offering AI-based education to students in the province, especially those residing in remote and poorly served regions. The Elementary and Secondary Education Foundation created the program for students in grades 6 to 12. The GVS provides virtual classrooms, live and recorded lessons, digital learning materials, assessments, progress tracking, and virtual laboratory exercises.

An AI teacher is also part of the platform, capable of explaining lessons, answering queries, and delivering personalized learning assistance in Urdu, English, and Pashto. Students have the opportunity to learn Chinese, German, Korean, and Japanese through the platform. The government plans to initially connect 175 public schools and aims to expand the network to 500 schools by the end of the current month or early next month.

Officials mentioned that the necessary equipment will be provided to the schools to enable the system's operation. Chief Secretary Shahab Ali Shah expressed that the initiative could aid in tackling teacher and school shortages and expand education access in areas impacted by security issues and natural disasters. Education Minister Arshad Ayub Khan disclosed the government's intention to carry out a district-level survey to identify out-of-school children and devise policies to boost enrollment.
