Kindiki turns to Mt Kenya elders to unite region ahead of 2027, says DP seat not vacant

Deputy President Kithure Kindiki has sought the guidance of Mt Kenya elders to unite the voting bloc in support of his candidacy for the DP seat in the 2027 General Election. On Saturday, Kindiki met with thousands of elders from Mt Kenya East, who endorsed him for the DP seat, instructing them to engage their colleagues from the West on how the region can become a united front.

At the same time, Kindiki criticized his predecessor, Rigathi Gachagua, for disrespecting him and not living up to expectations as a senior figure. He emphasized that the Deputy President position is already occupied by him and urged other candidates to recognize this. Kindiki vowed to bring together the Mt Kenya East and West regions to speak with one voice on political and development matters, promising to support President Ruto's re-election and the completion of development projects in the region.
